New Branch Plan for 2008

CORNWALL COUNTY CENTRAL BRANCH
(BR2296)

I am very pleased to wish you all a successful year and to welcome all the new members to the Branch. As you may already know, the Cornwall County Central Branch is now into its third year of operation and was formed to support newly recruited members mainly from regular and reserve military personnel, as well as people who just wish to support the Royal British Legion.  I am in the fortunate position of having a very experienced committee and our Branch is developing very well with a membership approaching 500. We endeavour to maintain minimum costs and intend to communicate primarily by e-mail and through the county websiteYour membership is greatly valued and appreciated and will help maintain the strength of the Royal British Legion.

Aims/Objectives for 2008

After a very successful start to our operation the Branch will continue to:-

  • Improve communications and develop a larger footprint for membership (including outside of Cornwall)
  • Increase recruiting and retention levels [Please make an effort to recruit at least one new member – it’s only £11:50 per year and application forms can be obtained from the county website. Frequent visits are made to regular and reserve service organisations. Recruiting to the RBL in general and the Central Branch in particular, is very positive (all on DDSP)]
  • Ensure maximum presence at County meetings and National Conference [All members are most welcome to attend and the Branch meetings (4 per year) and the dates are be shown on the website Branch Diary page]
  • Support members wishing to complete any of the RBL training courses or access welfare information

Branch Address

The Central Branch has been given office facilities at the County HQ and the postal address is:

The Royal British Legion
Cornwall County Central Branch
66 Lemon Street
TRURO
Cornwall TR1 2PN

Communication

To maintain minimum costs, it is intended to communicate primarily by e-mail and through the county website.  There is still a great deal of development in hand to produce an ‘easy to use’ e-mail facility which will be compatible to national communications procedures and also remain within the data protection guidelines. Minutes of Branch Committee meetings and useful information are available on the Branch page on this website.  The Central Branch will use the HQ address in Lemon Street where office/desk/filing facilities have been made available. Keith Naylor is normally available there on a daily basis on 01872 260577. Although a long way off, you may wish to note the date of our AGM, which will be held in Skinners Brewery, Truro, on Thursday 13th November at 1730. If you are interested in attending could you please let Mike Lynch know (kernowsec@rblcornwall.co.uk) so that details can be forwarded to you nearer the time.

Support from other Branches

Support from other Branches is very positive and Truro is an excellent example. The Central Branch is working on their behalf to recruit and retain RBL members and will endeavour to forge sound links with all.

Recruitment

One of our aims is to strengthen the Royal British Legion support particularly here in Cornwall . Please make an effort to recruit a new member - it's only £11 per year and application forms can be obtained from this website
