Forthcoming Branch events

The Penzance Festival of Veterans Sunday 15th July 2007

As a Ministry of Defence initiative, Penzance Branches of the Royal British Legion & Royal Air Force Association are arranging a parade and afternoon of music. The parade will start at St John’s Hall at 2pm and process to Morrab Gardens, via Morrab Road.

Taking part in the parade will be Veterans, Cadet Forces, Guides and Brownies and many others, the Military Vehicles Trust & RBL Riders Branch, mounted on their motorcycles and a 1940’s coach to carry any disabled or infirm who would like to join in. As the parade passes Penlee House the salute, will be taken by our guests of honour. (To be named on confirmation) later. The parade will then continue to the Bandstand in Morrab Gardens where a short commemorative service will take place and hope fully a presentation of standards to some of the Penzance cadet forces. Once the parade is dismissed there will follow an afternoon of music in the Victorian Bandstand from Cornwall Caledonian Pipe Band, Humphry Davy School performing Jazz, Swing, Big Band and a Vera Lynn sing along.  The Military Vehicles will be on display and the RBL Riders Branch. Stalls will include The Royal British Legion, RAFA and others. There will be refreshments on sale. There will be a fly over by an aircraft which will drop Red, White and Blue Confetti to mark the occasion. RNAS Culdrose have kindly offered a flight in a Naval Helicopter Simulator. This will be the main prize in our raffle, which will be from a luck number printed on your Programmes.

We would like to be introduced to any serving or ex-service personnel, their spouses, family or dependants, who may benefit from the welfare side of the Legion. We can arrange hospital visits, home visits.
